Nicole Scherzinger apologises for “recent engagement” with controversial political posts

Nicole Scherzinger has broken her silence following her recent interaction on a controversial political post.

On 5 November, the former Pussycat Dolls singer was met with backlash after she commented on Russell Brand’s Instagram post, seemingly celebrating Donald Trump’s controversial presidential election win.

In the photo, Brand is holding a hat similar to those worn by Trump supporters; however, the text reads, “Make Jesus First Again.”

In a now-deleted comment, Scherzinger wrote: “Where can I get this hat!?”

It wasn’t long before fans expressed their disappointment in the Sunset Boulevard star, with many accusing her of aligning with the twice-impeached president-elect and his supporters.

“Nicole Scherzinger, I was rooting we for you WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU how dare you!?” one fan wrote on Twitter/X.

Another user tweeted: “Who knew that Nicole Scherzinger as a Trumper was the biggest masked singer of all time.”

A third fan added: “My question is why is Nicole Scherzinger even following and interacting with Russell Brand in the first place.”

In response to the backlash, Scherzinger uploaded a statement to her Instagram story, apologizing for the “hurt” her aforementioned interaction caused.

“I deeply apologize for the hurt caused by my recent engagement with some social media posts. When I commented on these posts, I made the mistake of not realizing that they could be easily interpreted as being politically related and I apologize to anyone who understandably reached that conclusion,” she wrote.

The ‘Buttons’ singer went on to seemingly address the Trump supporter accusations, stating that the “presumptions drawn don’t reflect who she is, what she stands for or who she voted for.”

“Many of the marginalized communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about most. I stand with them, as I always have throughout my life and career. If you know me, you know that,” she continued.

“Like so many others, in times of adversity and uncertainty. I turn to my faith. I believed that the post I engaged with were about encouraging people to choose love and faith – “putting Jesus first.” For me, Christ embodies peace. compassion, hope, and – above all – unconditional love, especially for those who may feel it the least right now.”

Toward the end of her post, Scherzinger added that she comes from a place of love and supports “values that bring us together.”

“It’s so important we come together with compassion, and love one another more now than ever,” she concluded.

Despite her statement, the controversy has not ended – with a screenshot of her allegedly liking a pro-Trump Instagram post by Robert F Kennedy Jr circulating on X.
