There’s about a 99% chance you’ve heard about cuckolding: a genre of porn that typically involves a straight guy being mocked for his lack of sexual prowess while watching his female partner have sex with another guy. So far, so heteronormative – but what if we told you that there was another way?
Queerer iterations of cuckolding porn are on the rise – whether it’s the woman being topped by a masc dyke or scenarios exclusively featuring queer performers. In the latter camp is Cucked, the latest film from avant-porn project Four Chambers and the fourth instalment in their Void series, which explores the intersections of human psychology and sexuality.
Pushing the cuckold genre into new territory, the film rewrites this traditionally hetero narrative and flips the focus: taking us into the mind of the individual being cucked, watching furtively from the corner, rather than focussing on the individuals having sex.
Helming Cucked is the performer JV Marx – a self-described “multidisciplinary artist/webcam boner boy” who drew on his own kinks in order to embody the character within the film and draw us into the psychology of cuckolding.
“Getting to work with JV on this was a dream because he’s exactly the kind of performer who makes porn great, says Vex Ashley, a porn performer, director and producer and the co-founder of Four Chambers. “He thinks deeply about sex and brings so much energy and thoughtful vulnerability to this film but he’s also just a very hot and talented pervert – my favourite combination.”
In find out more, we spoke to JV to chat kinks, queering cuckolding porn and where you can support his work.
Hi JV, thanks so much for talking to us – we’re obsessed with your performance in Cucked. Can you talk to us a bit more about your work with Four Chambers and where we might have seen you before?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist/webcam boner boy residing in Los Angeles, California. The bulk of my career so far has been in adult film and writing over on the sex work side of the mountain, directing and proper theater acting on the civilian side. Blending those two things has been the focus of late, and meeting Vex and the people in the Four Chambers cinematic universe has been really inspiring in that area. I don’t wanna perform in a play or direct under my civilian name. I wanna do it as JV Marx. Hopefully more to follow, there, soon!
Cucked draws on some of your own sexual interests. How would you describe your journey with cuckolding?
Cucking was something that freaked me out before it turned me on. I can be a jealous guy. And people – our partners, us – at their cores, aren’t so static and knowable and constant. Infidelity, inconstancy and betrayal are all super inherent to the human experience and love.
I’ve been open with partners in my adulthood but, even then, there has been cheating both on my part or theirs. Or just differences in how we approach non-monogamy or promiscuity or communicating about our other partners or our hookup plans.
Cucking is new for me, really. It came into my relationship, personally, when I realised my partner kind of liked sneaking around and that I kind of thought that was hot. At first it really pissed me off, I was hurt that they felt so much need for secrecy. But then I realised that it… actually wasn’t really a problem at all. And in fact, it made me really horny. I want my partner to be himself. I want him to be as slutty and true to himself as he wants to be.
It really reinvigorated our sex life when we both embraced that part of ourselves and gave us some more wiggle room to be the complicated horny beasts that we are.
The Void series is focussed on delving into the psychology of the sexual experience. How would you describe the psychology of cuckolding to you?
I think the psychological dimensions of cucking are pretty expansive. There’s the humiliation, at times. Seeing your partner fuck somebody hotter, bigger, stronger, better. Seeing them engage in the kind of sex you really only have with randos, Grindr hookups and the like.
There’s compersion [feeling fulfilment from a partner’s sexual fulfilment] too. The ‘hot wife/ hot husband’ experience, enjoying sharing your partner with someone: in loving ways, possessive ways, ways that highlight a friendship with you and a bull, a friend, a coworker, a groomsman, whatever.
Then there’s the long-lasting mind fuck of it all. In a cuck dynamic, there is so much playful lying. So much playful day-to-day wondering about stuff. Not knowing when a guy is gonna come over. Not knowing when he’s going to reveal where he really was last Tuesday evening. Enjoying watching other sexual partnerships develop and grow. It’s a lifestyle kink, like chastity.
How does Cucked flip some of the expectations around the cuckolding genre in porn?
I would say that Cucked flips some expectations in that it’s gay porn. There isn’t a lot of gay cuck porn out there, for some reason. The reason is probably that cucking has roots in heteropatriarchy – it’s man and wife. It’s objectifying. Plus, gay people are so open and poly in general, most open gay couples don’t even have hard rules or boundaries of any kind when it comes to sex partners. So in another way, the suggestion of a tender place that might be violated and aroused in some kind of monogamous way could be a jumpscare for gay audiences. It’s becoming more popular these days – gay cuck porn. I’m curious about that.
"My co-stars, funnily enough, are both dudes who cuck me with my boyfriend"
We’re curious, what was it like working on this project?
Working on this project was a dream. Vex and I have some bizarre psychic connection where we’re thinking about the same kind of projects at the same time. I’m so glad for that partnership, creatively. Working with Four Chambers has been the most enjoyable part of my career, so far.
Performing with people I know very well was also a dream. Vex said “action” once, we fucked and romped around, and then we cut. That never happens. We just naturally flowed together because we already fuck on the regular.
My co-stars, funnily enough, are both dudes who cuck me with my boyfriend. My partner was supposed to perform with one of our bulls, and we were eager to document that authentic, complicated relationship between the three of us. But there were scheduling conflicts, so we tapped in another bull to fuck the smaller bull, who at the time was a really consistent partner. Having it be strictly creative and fantasy was interesting – [my co-star] Jeremiah is not my boyfriend, really. A partner, sure. But we were able to whisper way more fucked up and hurtful stuff to each other since there was no real world aftercare looming.
On the creative side, writing text to accompany the film and blocking out ideas about everything, Vex was a super respectful collaborator and really wanted to know my ideas and vibes for the overall vision. She has so much respect for other artists she works with, and that’s why her work is so incredible and captivating. She makes people feel safe and powerful. That kind of creative environment is so crucial to tap into the psyche of everything, the image, the moment.
Lastly, where can our readers support your work?
