Channel 4 has finally revealed the future of Big Boys, and fans are freaking out.
Back in 2022, TV viewers were first introduced to the British sitcom, which stars Dylan Llewellyn and Jon Pointing as Jack and Danny, respectively, first-year university students who live together in a disused shed on campus.
Set in 2013, Jack is a shy, closeted journalism student coming to terms with his father’s death, and Danny is a confident “lad”-type who tries to drag Jack out of his comfort zone while dealing with his own mental health issues.
Llewellyn’s character is a semi-fictional version of Jack Rooke, who created and wrote the series and serves as narrator.
Since its debut, Big Boys has garnered critical acclaim, earning two BAFTA nominations and a Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Award for Best TV Situation Comedy.
In January, fans were finally treated to the dramedy’s third season following an extended hiatus.
Picking up where season one left off, the six episodes followed Jack, Danny and their friends Corinne (Izuka Hoyle) and Yemi (Olisa Odele) as they start their second year at Brent University.
Like its first season, the new batch of episodes was an immediate hit with viewers and critics, with many praising the comedic yet heartfelt storylines and the cast’s dynamic performances.
Over the last few months, fans have eagerly awaited for Channel 4 to announce if the series would return for a third entry.
On 11 June, British Comedy Guide delivered a glimmer of hope for viewers when they reported that new episodes were on the way, despite lacking an official confirmation from the network.
In response to the report, Rooke added fuel to the season three fire when he jokingly claimed that the network would have to honour niche requests, including exclusive poppers and an increased budget for George Michael music – for the show to come back.

Fortunately, on 13 June, Channel 4 seemingly came to a middle ground for Rooke’s demands when they officially announced Big Boys season three.
“We’re thrilled to be back with Jack and the Roughcut team again and excited for people to see what’s next for the show’s motley crew,” Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, said in a press release.
Rooke echoed similar sentiments, adding: “It’s been 10 years since I actually graduated Uni and now yet again I’m returning to my campus with a clapperboard & film crew to recreate the embarrassing endeavours of my youth. It is just a dream job!
“The response to series 2 has been beautiful and we’re so grateful this show continues to connect with and get discovered by so many weird and wonderful viewers.”
Shortly after the news was announced, fans flocked to social media to share their excitement over the forthcoming season.
One viewer on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “I am absolutely buzzing actually.”
Another fan tweeted: “Such a good good show, I really thought it ended with season 2 with how it was wrapped but I can’t wait!”
A third user added: “Finally watched series 2 of this. My good frickin lord is it good! Can’t wait for third series. If you haven’t watched it, why the hell not? Get on it.”
While Channel 4 and Rooke refrained from disclosing the release date Big Boys season three, the new batch of episodes will follow the gang as they start their final year at Brent Uni and prepare for the looming responsibilities of adulthood.
