Drag Race season 16: Kylie Minogue reacts to sickening Padam Padam lip sync

Pop icon Kylie Minogue has responded to ‘Padam Padam’ being used in the Drag Race season 16 finale.

On 19 April, fans were finally treated to the show’s highly anticipated and sickening grand finale.

After weeks of intense maxi-challenges, showstopping runways, and jaw-dropping lip-syncs, Plane Jane, Nymphia Wind, and Sapphira Cristál reunited in front of a studio audience for one final face-off for the crown.

Like previous seasons, the three talented performers were tasked with presenting an original solo number inspired by their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent.

While the trio delivered incredible performances, Nymphia and Sapphira emerged victorious and were named the top two queens.

Following the herstoric Miss Congeniality crowning, the two drag powerhouses returned to the mainstage to compete in one final lip-sync smackdown to Kylie Minogue’s ‘Padam Padam’ – which became an instant hit with viewers.

One fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Padam Padam being the final lip sync song and it being one of the best final lip syncs ever.”

Another person tweeted: “Grammy-award winning song by Kylie Minogue Padam Padam as the lip-sync song for the crown!?!? OH IM SAT!!”

A third viewer added: “Padam Padam has finally reached drag race lip-sync status.”

Drag Race fans weren’t the only ones gagged over the show’s use of ‘Padam Padam.’

On 21 April, Minogue celebrated the moment by reposting Nymphia and Sapphira’s performance on her X profile, which earned over 40,000 likes.

“Well, well, WELL!!!! Just AMAZING!!!!!!,” the pop icon’s caption read.

The Drag Race season 16 grand finale is the second time this year the franchise has used a Minogue song for the final lip sync.

Back in March, the Aussie talent’s hit track ‘Your Disco Needs You’ was featured in the final episode of Drag Race UK vs the World season two –which saw Tia Kofi and Hannah Conda compete for the crown and title of ‘Queen of the Mothertucking World’.

In addition to the two grand finales, an array of songs from Mingoue’s expansive discography —like ‘Supernova,’ ‘Starstruck,’ and the definitive gay anthem ‘Get Out Of My Way’—have been featured in regular lip-syncs across the franchise.

While the ‘Can’t Get You Outta My Head’ singer has become one of the most lip-synced artists with the Drag Race Universe, she has never sat on the guest judges panel.

However, in a July 2023 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Minogue revealed that she’s working to make the fan dream a reality.

“It’s well overdue, and I can totally see myself doing that, and I would love to. I think we’ve tried to do it before, but it’s just schedules,” she told the news outlet.

“I’m going to have to go on it at some point. I’ve known [RuPaul] for a long time. He’s such a cool guy. I would consider it!.”
