Drag Race star Trixie Mattel sets record straight on All Stars 7 absence

Drag Race All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel has clarified why she didn’t return to the show for All Stars 7, the first-ever winners’ season. She has also shut down ever appearing in the werkroom again (unless the price is right).

In a new YouTube video titled “Trixie Answers the Internet’s Most Googled Questions”, the 34 year-old answered some of the internet’s most asked questions about herself.

This incIuded speculations on her missed appearance on All Stars 7, the first-ever winners’ season in Drag Race‘s herstory. It memorably saw the return of Jaida Essence Hall, Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, Shea Couleé, The Vivienne, Trinity the Tuck and Yvie Oddly. After winning five challenges, Jinkx became the first “Queen of All Queens”

“Straight from the wh**es mouth” the Drag Race icon recalled: “They did ask me to do all winners but I said, ‘absolutely f*cking not!’ But you should never say ‘no’ without a number. I should have been like, ‘Yeah, I’ll do it. I want half a million dollars.’

“I don’t know why I didn’t go crazy. But I just said ‘no’ because it’s just not for me, you guys. Drag Race is really hard and I don’t miss being on it.”

The queen took a moment to pause before reflecting on her current gig on The Pit Stop, the official aftershow of Drag Race: “Just being in front of the Drag Race audience again, I’m like ‘that’s right, Drag Race audiences are fucking wild dude.’”

The fans are “scary sometimes, they really can hurt your feelings and really can make you have those dark thoughts at night and it’s nice to not have that critique on your personhood.”

Trixie issued a warning to fans of the acclaimed franchise to seemingly check themselves: “Most of you don’t do drag so when you watch Drag Race, I want you to remember that, you have the privilege of being a surveyor in an amazing art form and that’s about where your privilege ends, believe it or not none of us started doing drag for you, we do it for ourselves.”

Later in the Q&A she revealed that Orville Peck and Bob The Drag Queen are two of her best friends alongside Lisa Vanderpump.

Trixie explained how she speaks to the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star “three times a week, at least”. They first met on Overserved, having never previously watched either of each other’s television shows. On set they started “ripping into each other and it just made perfect sense” and the friendship was affirmed.

Trixie is set to return to screens in a second series of her home improvement show titled Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home on HGTV.

The synopsis reads: “Pushing the envelope during their first year as motel mavens, the couple will take the leap into home ownership and cohabitation with the purchase of their dream home in Los Angeles, but it will need some revamping to make it fit for a queen.”

Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home is scheduled to land on screens in Summer 2024.
