Here’s your first sneak peek at the upcoming A24 film Dicks: The Musical.
On 3 August, the entertainment company behind Euphoria and Hereditary released the first trailer for the new project based on Aaron Jackson & Josh Sharp’s stage play.
At the start of the teaser, a narrator introduces Craig Tiddel and Trevor Brock as they obnoxiously make their way to work.
After Craig steals a pregnant women’s cab and Trevor takes another person’s coffee, the clip transitions to them singing about having powerful “c**ks” and being successful at their jobs.
The two characters are then shown arriving at work, where their “lady boss” – played by Megan Thee Stallion – comments on how they look exactly alike.
“Craig Tiddel and Trevor Brock, my two top salesmen. You mothaf**kas look like y’all can be twins,” she says, resulting in the two denying any resemblance.
However after the hilarious interaction, Craig and Trevor discover that they are, in fact, twins.
“The only thing I have from the dad I never knew is half a locket,” they both exclaim. “We must be brothers.”
Craig then adds: “Not just brothers Trevor – twins!”
Following their discovery, the two brothers craft a plan to reunite their estranged parents, which results in a string of chaotic moments.
“If Mom and Dad got married again, then we’d have a real family,” Craig says.
Towards the end of the trailer, clips from the film’s various phallic-based musical numbers flash across the screen, including a rap solo from Megan.
“Y’all just servants, this my palace built this palace built it brick by brick, so get in line drop to your knees suck my f***ing dick,” the Hot Girl Summer artist raps whilst performing choreography.
In addition to Sharp, Jackson and Meg, Dicks: The Musical stars Megan Mullally as the twins’ eccentric mom, Nathan Lane as their gay dad, and Bowen Yang as God.
The official synopsis for the film reads: “Two self-obsessed businessmen (writers Aaron Jackson & Josh Sharp) discover they’re long-lost identical twins and come together to plot the reunion of their eccentric divorced parents, in this riotously funny and depraved musical from comedy icon Larry Charles.”
The raunchy musical is set to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival before getting a wide theatrical release on 29 September.
