Taylor Swift delivered a heartfelt speech for her LGBTQ+ fans in honour of Pride Month.
Over the last months, music enthusiasts across the US have flocked to their local stadiums to witness the Grammy winner perform on her extravagant The Eras tour – which highlights each of her iconic albums.
Since kicking off the critically acclaimed spectacle in March, Swift has used her three-hour show to deliver showstopping choreography, incredible visuals and heartwarming messages to her expansive fanbase.
During her recent stop in Chicago, Swift celebrated the start of Pride Month by honouring her “brilliant” LGBTQ+ fans.
“They are loving who they want to love, they are identifying how they identify, and allies who get to support them in and celebrate them in that,” she exclaimed on Friday (2 June).
“This is a safe space for you. This is a celebratory space for you. And one of the things that makes me feel so prideful is getting to be with you, and watching you interact with each other, and being so loving, and so thoughtful, and so caring.”
Towards the end of her speech, Swift slammed the spike in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and rhetoric before encouraging attendees to use their voices and vote.
“I wish that every place was safe and beautiful for people in the LGBTQ+ community. I really wish that because we can’t talk about Pride Month without talking about pain,” she continued.
“There have been so many harmful pieces of legislation that have put people in the LGBTQ and queer community at risk. It’s painful for everyone, every ally, every loved one, every person in these communities, and that’s why I’m always posting, ‘This when the midterms are, This is when these important key primaries are.”

“We can support as much as we want during Pride Month, but if we’re not doing our research on these elected officials, are they advocates? Are they allies? Are they protectors of equality? I love you guys so much, and happy Pride Month.”
This isn’t the first time Swift has showcased her love and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Back in 2020, the beloved talent opened up to V Magazine about the importance of LGBTQ+ visibility ahead of the presidential election.
“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” she told the publication.
In addition to her interviews, Swift has also shown support for the LGBTQ+ community through her various music releases.
For her hit single You Need To Calm Down, an array of Drag Race stars, including Mama Ru, made cameo appearances in the accompanying music video.
The All Too Well singer also cast openly trans model Laith Ashley as her love interest in the Lavender Haze music video.
“There is lots of lavender. There is lots of haze. There is my incredible costar @laith_ashley who I absolutely adored working with,” Swift wrote after its release.
