BBC Three announces I Kissed A Boy follow-up series I Kissed A Girl

BBC Three

A follow-up series to the hit show I Kissed A Boy has been officially greenlit, and this time it’s featuring queer women.

After the groundbreaking release of the UK’s first gay dating series, BBC Three has decided to bless the LGBTQ+ community with another queer dating show, I Kissed A Girl.

As the title suggests, the forthcoming series is set to follow a group of 10 single women as they search for love amidst a beautiful sunkissed location.

Like its predecessor, the ten-part show will start with the women being matched up based on what they’re looking for in a partner.

Following their first kiss, the new batch of couples will embark on a romantic journey that’ll test their chemistry, passion and overall compatibility.

“I Kissed A Girl will serve drama, smash stereotypes and promise more twists and turns than ever,” a synopsis for the show reads.

LGBTQ+ icon and I Kissed A Boy’s Dannii Minogue is set to return to her role as Cupid and host of the herstory-making series.

“After showing love truly is for everyone with I Kissed A Boy, I am thrilled to have the chance to be Cupid for girls in the second series,” the I Begin To Wonder singer said in a statement.

“I’m so excited to see if we can find more connections, chemistry and hopefully love sealed with a kiss – here come the girls.”

Fiona Campbell, Controller for Youth Audiences, BBC Three and BBC iPlayer, echoed similar sentiments, stating: “I Kissed A Girl will follow our brilliant first series I Kissed A Boy, which is the first gay dating show in the UK, bringing another fresh perspective on the LGBTQ+ dating space.

“We hope audiences are enjoying the series currently airing on BBC Three and are excited for what the next series will have in store.”

Casting for the upcoming dating series is now open. If you’re a queer woman looking for love, apply via the BBC Take Part website or an online application form.

The news of I Kissed A Girl comes a few days after BBC Three announced a “loud and proud” reunion special for I Kissed A Boy.

According to a press release, the studio special will see Minogue get “the latest goss from the boys” including their “love lives, newfound fame and any lingering chemistry”.

Additionally, the episode will celebrate the Masseria’s “greatest moments, deep dive into the drama and lead the boys through outrageously funny party games. It’s loud, and it’s proud. Strap in for I Kissed A Boy: The Reunion.”

The first series of I Kissed A Boy is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
